Bass
VOCALS
Fred was born and grew up in Vallejo. He began playing drums and singing in high
school bands in the early '60's. While in the Air Force, he played weekends until his
discharge in 1968. He went on the road backing Barbara Mandrel and other country
artists until he settled in Portland, Ore. in 1970. He then formed his own show band The
Tumbleweed Connection specializing in tight harmonies and arrangements and toured
the Pacific Northwest including Reno, Tahoe, and Las Vegas until 1985 when he came
back to the east bay. Not content with being in the background, he learned to play bass
and has been on the front line ever since.
Fred has played with several local bands including Crossroads Band. In the late '90's,
he suffered nerve damage to his hands and had to quit playing until recently. Now, fully
recovered, he's back doing what he loves best, riding his Harley, playing music, and
entertaining people. Fred is also a local Realtor and enjoys a very full and rewarding
life with his wife, Carol.
